Did You?

Ding! Ding! The clock signaled it was two.
I stole into the house quietly. One wrong move and I was dead.
I watched for cracks in the wall. Small, horrible cracks that killed us.
I winced as heard a creak. I didn't move at all. I heard footsteps.
Step, step, step.
I didn't move until I didn't hear the footsteps again.
I pressed myself carefully against the wall. I slowly moved and peered around the corner. It was clear.
I quickly but quietly ran to the third door on the left. Grinning in victory, I placed my hand on the doorknob. I stared then let out a scream.
They came toward me. Slowly. I was dead.

Ugh. I was on cleaning-duty for sneaking out.
"I hope you learned a lesson here."
"Yes I have," I said.
"Don't ever do that again."
I shook my head. "I won't."
"That was very dangerous!" scolded my mother. "You could have gotten yourself killed!"
I hung my head.
My father changed the subject. "Did you feed well?"
I looked up a pulled my lips back, revealing sharp fangs.
"Yes. Yes I did."
My mother and father grinned.
"Excellent. Now, it is time for us to feed as well."
